In the news of this year UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov is injured. According to reports, Nurmagomedov was made to pull out of his forthcoming Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale co-headlining bout against Tony Ferguson because of a rib injury. There are discussions but as of today, nothing is set in stone. That makes it the third straight fight Nurmagomedov hasn’t managed to see completion. It began with a projected UFC 178 battle against Donald Cerrone which”The Eagle” was forced from following a knee injury. He reaggravated the same knee when the bout was rescheduled for UFC 187 and he’s from his December fight. Nurmagomedov hasn’t fought because a unanimous decision victory over now-UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos at April of 2014. Depending on how long it takes for him to recuperate from this rib setback, he is on a yearlong break until he sees the Octagon . Ross Pearson vs. Francisco Trinaldo — UFC Fight Night 81 While one UFC bout was cancelled, another was announced as recent winners Ross Pearson and Francisco Trinaldo are supposed to throw down in Boston this upcoming January. Pearson was victorious in his final bout over Paul Felder via unanimous conclusion despite being a hefty underdog. Trinaldo did the exact same thing, winning as a dog that is massive this past August via round TKO Chad Laprise. Trinaldo certainly has more momentum, although this is a pretty evenly matched fight. The Brazilian has won four straight spells and is coming from the best victory of his career while Pearson has been not able to string any wins together in his last eight fights. While Pearson has more name recognition, it wouldn’t shock me to view Trinaldo open because the slight betting popular this time around because of his current string of success.
